Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) has one dimensional cylindrical graphitic structure and is known to be one of fascinating photo and catalytic active molecule. To understand these properties at molecular scale, we have been studying on local structure and catalytic activity of an isolated single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) via SERS measurement. In addition, synthesis of SWNT utilizing electrochemical technique at room temperature has been studied for producing well-controlled carbon nanotube structure.

It is well-known that molecular diffusion dynamics are altered in a confined space. By using this characteristic diffusivity change, we have developed a novel molecular manipulation system, in which a molecular-recognitive diffusion control became possible. These finding offered a miniaturized functional molecular manipulation systems that can be used in future nano-devices technologies.
